What we liked
- + High-strength braided Dacron with low stretch, built to hold up when a fish runs far into the backing
- + Designed for clean blind splice loops and easier knots than tightly woven backings, per the listing
- + Thin diameter fits more backing on the reel, and 20 lb in 100 yards suits typical trout reels
Trade-offs
- - 100 yards is short for large saltwater or salmon reels, which need the longer 30 lb spools
- - Dacron is thicker than gel-spun for the same strength, so capacity on a given reel is lower
