# Best Wet Wading Shoes Source: https://flyfishnest.com/best/best-wet-wading-shoes Updated: 2026-09-15 Publisher: Fly Fish Nest. Our score is an editorial rating out of 10 (fit 35%, features 25%, build 20%, value 20%), not a customer rating. Method: https://flyfishnest.com/how-we-research#our-score When water and air warm up, wet wading is the most comfortable way to fish, but ordinary sneakers and sandals give up exactly what rivers demand: traction and protection. Purpose-built wet wading shoes drain fast, grip slick rock, and shield toes from the cobble strikes that ruin a barefoot-style outing. Designs range from armored sandals to full shoes and lightweight boots, each trading protection against drying speed and weight. We weighed wet traction first, because slick rock does not care about the season, then drainage, toe and ankle protection, gravel exclusion, and how comfortable each shoe stays on the hike out. Fit with and without neoprene socks counted for anglers who fish cooler mornings. Our picks serve summer trout anglers, smallmouth waders on rocky rivers, flats travelers, and paddlers who fish, with honest notes on where sandals stop being enough. ## Picks ### 1.
