# The Best Sling Packs for Fly Fishing Source: https://flyfishnest.com/best/best-sling-packs Updated: 2026-09-15 Publisher: Fly Fish Nest. Our score is an editorial rating out of 10 (fit 35%, features 25%, build 20%, value 20%), not a customer rating. Method: https://flyfishnest.com/how-we-research#our-score Sling packs solved the problem vests and backpacks could not: real storage that swings around to your chest when you need a fly change, then moves out of the way when you cast. Models differ in which shoulder they load, how smoothly they rotate, how much they hold, and whether the fabric shrugs off rain and spray. Net carry and water bottle storage vary widely too, and matter more than most buyers expect. We weighed rotation ease, balance under a full load, workbench-style access to boxes and tippet, and comfort over a long day of wading. Anglers who fish deep water or hike between spots get the most from a sling, and the bigger models suit those carrying lunch and layers. If you rarely carry more than a couple of boxes, the compact picks will serve you better than the expedition-sized ones. ## Picks ### 1.
