# The Best Fly Fishing Nets Source: https://flyfishnest.com/best/best-fly-fishing-nets Updated: 2026-09-15 Publisher: Fly Fish Nest. Our score is an editorial rating out of 10 (fit 35%, features 25%, build 20%, value 20%), not a customer rating. Method: https://flyfishnest.com/how-we-research#our-score A net shortens fights, protects fish, and saves flies, and the difference between a good one and a cheap one shows up at the worst possible moment. Rubber and rubber-coated bags protect slime coats and shrug off hooks, while handle length and hoop size decide whether a net suits tight streams or big water. Materials matter too: carbon and composite frames float and stay light, while wood remains durable and classic. We considered bag material and depth, weight and balance, carry options like magnetic releases and holsters, and durability where the frame meets the handle. Small-stream anglers want a short handle and compact hoop that stows on a sling. Boat and big-river anglers should go long, and anyone chasing large trout or steelhead needs a deep bag. A rubber bag is worth the modest upcharge in every single case. ## Picks ### 1.
